Final Third Foundation partners with Eakin to provide a Soccer & Literacy Program in partnership with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. This after-school program  promotes health, wellness, achievement, leadership and character development, both on and off the field. MY Project USA, a local non-profit, is partnering with Eakin to provide after-school programming  (ASP) at Eakin for students in grades 3-5 with funding obtained from local donors. The program is a multi-discipline experience which supports students as they explore technology, games, reading & math, and grow up to be leaders & strong community members.

Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) mentor program is at Eakin during our recess and lunch blocks. The mentor program provides opportunities for  Eakin students grades 2nd-5th.  Our CRIS mentor runs soccer groups and art groups during recess 5 days a week. Students learn to play soccer, do art projects, and build community with their classmates. CRIS has generously provided us with art supplies, winter hats, Thanksgiving food bags, and personalized jerseys where each student got to pick their number! We have loved partnering with CRIS and are so thankful for their  work with our students.

National Youth Advocate Program is excited to partner with Eakin Elementary to provide school-based, tele-health and office based mental health services in the school, home and community settings. NYAP recognizes the value of early identification and intervention with a child. While the family is the largest influence in a child’s life, the school is the second largest.

NYAP’s program is designed to provide easy access to mental health services with the majority of services being provided in the school setting. Additional services can be provided in the home and community, as needed.

Upon enrollment and consent of each student’s parent or legal guardian, each student will receive a comprehensive assessment to determine their individualized needs. Following the assessment, an individualized treatment plan is completed.

The main targets of the program are improving the child’s social and behavioral functioning, improving school attendance and academic performance, and enhancing the student’s ability to overcome issues that they face in the school home or community setting in a healthy and prosocial manner.

NYAP provides:

  • Comprehensive diagnostic assessment
  • Risk assessment and behavior management assessment
  • Positive behavior management planning
  • Individual service planning
  • Behavioral health counseling
  • Small group counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Crisis support and intervention
  • Parent education
  • Psychiatry
  • Psychological assessment
  • Alcohol and substance use assessment
  • Linkage and referrals to other services
  • Counseling for parents or siblings
